The 8 Essential Elements to Health and Happiness:
Mindfulness is a state of actively giving attention to the present moment. Moving your body mindfully means you pay deliberate attention to the sensations in your body, moment to moment. By executing exercises, posture and movements with greater awareness, you’ll manage intensity levels more effectively and feel stronger and more energized.
Natural nutrition is about consuming whole foods, which are complete and perfect, in their natural state. Picture an avocado, potato, bunch of Swiss chard or an egg. These whole foods contain balanced ratios of vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates and sugars. They’re not altered, stripped or refined, and our bodies know how to break them down and use them for maximum energy and potential. By eating natural whole foods, you’ll feel healthier, happier and more energized.
Spirituality is unique to each individual. Your own “spirit” refers to the deepest part of you, the part that lets you make meaning of your world. Do you feel a sense of worth, hope, purpose and peace, and do you have a positive outlook on life? Or do you feel empty, anxious, hopeless, apathethic or in conflict? Your spirit provides you with the revealing sense of who you are, why you are here and what your purpose is. Daily meditation and centering allows you to experience presence, deep peace, love and a connection to your highest self to reveal the truth of who you are.
Connecting to nature has a positive influence on our health, happiness and vitality. Looking around and walking in natural environments have been shown to promote positive emotions and have been associated with heightened physical and mental energy. Spending more time in nature near trees and large bodies of water also promotes our antioxidant defence system leading us back into a state of inner harmony. Nature helps counterbalance prolonged exposure to our indoor electronic devices, along with wifi signals and other electromagnetic frequencies, which can have damaging effects on our health.
People from all walks of life share an innate drive for meaning, direction and purpose. What makes you come alive inside? What is your path to true happiness? Using positive psychology, we focus and follow what is right in your life. The Vedic wisdom tradition offers the beautiful principle of dharma, which is commonly translated as our purpose or path in life. Each of us comes into this world with a unique dharma or purpose and a natural passion to fulfill it. When we’re living our dharma, we feel awake, happy and alive as we use our unique gifts and talents to serve others and the planet.
According to the National Institute for Play, play is the gateway to vitality. It is essential for not only kids, but for adults as well. It’s an important source of relaxation and stimulation. Playing with your romantic partner, co-workers, pets, friends, and children is a sure and fun way to fuel your imagination, creativity and problem-solving abilities. Actively playing will improve your mood and make you smarter and less stressed. Take time in your day to play and you’ll not only give your immune system a boost, but promote a sense of belonging and community as well.

These techniques will stimulate the body’s relaxation response and result in slower breathing, lower blood pressure, and a feeling of increased well-being. By resting and relaxing, you’ll improve your mood, be able to focus better, get higher quality sleep, increase energy, and reduce anxiety, impatience and fluctuating emotions. A balanced life will allow you to be more productive and successful.
